June 24, 2026, will remain in Venezuela’s collective memory as one of the most devastating events ever faced by Venezuelan society. Two earthquakes, the first measuring 7.2 and the second 7.5, occurring just 39 seconds apart, left behind a desolate landscape, with entire areas in the states of Vargas and the Capital District completely devastated, dozens of buildings collapsed, and countless fatalities.
At the Canine Support Network, we respond from day one, with our team focused on providing as much help as possible to animals that have lost their families or become lost, as well as to stray animals in the affected areas.
We have made all our programs available, including the food bank, basic veterinary care and surgeries, the network of foster homes, volunteer opportunities, and preparing future homes for the adoption of homeless animals, all of which are being prioritized in response to this tragedy of unprecedented proportions.
The work of the rescue teams is a monumental, race against the clock effort to find survivors. This earthquake has left a scar on the soul of an entire nation, but in the face of adversity, we remain steadfast, grateful for the solidarity you are extending to the animals through us.
